Prada, the long-standing Italian luxury fashion house, has announced that it will be an official partner of the China Women’s National Football Team. The luxurious sports partnership was revealed last week, just as the FIFA Women’s World Cup will take place at the end of July.
Through this partnership, the 23-member team will be dressed in designs by Prada for formal events and while travelling. Prada also designed the team’s official uniform – a black Prada blazer, matching trousers, sleek button-down, and Prada loafers – to display a lively and modern image off the field.
In an official statement by Prada, a brand representative shared that the China Women’s Football Team has an excellent reputation worldwide and inspired many young female athletes. In doing so, they have attracted the eyes and attention of the public and institutions towards an inclusive and democratic sport.
The China Women’s National Football Team carry the affectionate moniker ‘Steel Roses’, combining their strong skills and feminine traits in the football world. With Prada leading the team’s wardrobe styles, the women are bound to turn heads on and off the field.
The partnership between the two will extend beyond the FIFA Women’s World Cup, running until the Asian Games 2023, Paris 2024 Olympics, and other crucial fixtures in the summer. It is the latest sports partnership Prada has ventured into this year in China, naming basketball player Shuyu Yang as its brand ambassador in May.
