Samsung UK has partnered with Currys to offer discounts for trading-in unwanted tech. With the new Cash for Trash scheme, consumers can get a £5 voucher for bringing in their worn-out techs.
The 10-15% discount applies to over 390 Samsung products, eligible whenever a customer drops off their unwanted tech at the retailer. With this partnership, Samsung UK and Currys will work together for a better circular technology industry.
Additionally, the reasonable discount offers customers savings in 17 different product categories. Whether a smartphone or an American fridge freezer, the initiative is available in all 285 Currys UK stores or on its website.
To unlock this offer, customers only need to bring their unwanted electrical items, regardless of the item’s age, condition, or worth, to any Currys store. However, only battery-powered items or those that run on a direct power supply are allowed.
Following this scheme, Currys will refurbish the electrical items, harvest their working parts, sell them as pre-loved items, or recycle the entire gadget.
As a result of Currys‘ Long Live Your Tech initiative, the brand recycled over 1.6 million electrical items last year. This year, it has partnered with Samsung UK to take things to the next level.
Ed Connolly, the Chief Commercial Officer at Currys, said: “By working together with Samsung, we have been able to pass on great savings to customers, whilst also encouraging more sustainable behaviours.“
In addition to this partnership, Samsung is an active participant in recycling schemes. As a result of its commitment to reducing e-waste, Samsung has announced its carbon neutrality across its division by 2030. The brand has also set-up an e-waste collection scheme in over 50 countries, with the aim to expand it to 180 countries by 2030 to achieve its target of 10 million tons of e-waste.
