The fresh releases are accompanied by an eclectic array of skin tones, hairstyles, and outfits for diversity and to drive the imagination

Barbie has expanded its Fashionistas line with three new body types added to the collection to include tall, curvy, and petite. The fresh releases are accompanied by an eclectic array of skin tones, hairstyles, and outfits to represent the celestial stories of any and every girl and spark a more expansive imagination.

Alongside the original look, the range currently entails a total of four figure types, seven skin tones, 22 eye colours, and 24 hairstyles with a varied selection of on-trend fashions and accessories to match. Infusing more diversity into the mix, the updates add to the trend the brand started in 2015.

Last year, the toymaker rolled out 23 revitalised doll varieties and the most noticeable tweak of all—the flat foot. According to Mattel President and COO, Richard Dickson, the marque’s over 55-year global presence renders the brand a cultural icon and source of inspiration for millions of young ones.

He added that the Barbie reflects the world girls see around them, and her ability to evolve and grow with the times while staying true to her spirit is central to why she is the top fashion doll in the world. The models can be viewed and ordered via Mattel’s retail website.

“We are excited to literally be changing the face of the brand. These new dolls represent a line that is more reflective of the world girls see around them. The variety in body type, skin tones, and style allows girls to find a doll that speaks to them,” said Evelyn Mazzocco, SVP and Global GM of Barbie.
