Technology retailer Currys Pc World has partnered with delivery service Uber Eats to offer Londoners the opportunity to grab emergency chargers, printer cartridges and other items in as little as 30 minutes with their new ‘techaway’ delivery service.

Launching from November 15, the three-month trial promises the fastest service in electronics retail when orders for any of 1,800 items are placed via the Currys website or app within two hours of store closure.

From here they plan to have Uber ready to tech it away, with its network of couriers employed to bring ordered items direct to your door for a £5 delivery fee.

Eve Henrickson, EMEA regional general manager delivery at Uber, said: “Our new partnership with Currys will bring electronics to doorsteps across London fast. Whether you are looking for an emergency charger or a new laptop for an important meeting, our new partnership will have you covered.”

Championing the ‘store-to-door’ concept, Mark Allsop, chief operating officer at Currys, added: “The world has shifted to a hybrid way of working and more customers are demanding greater convenience and speedier delivery to get their hands on tech.”

Designed to cater for the increased priority placed on speed and convenience by consumers, the tie-up marks Uber’s largest retail partnership to date and sees Currys moving into the future with this ‘techaway’ pilot.

Currys has invested heavily in online and delivery services, introducing a ShopLive 24/7 video shopping service and one-hour Order & Collect service to get customers through its doors as part of a merger of its retail brands.
