In this time of layoff, Lidl Co UK has stepped up to introduce 1500 new jobs. However, this plan will be executed with the establishment of a new regional distribution center in Leeds.
With the creation of the 38-acre site in Gildersome, Leeds, the company can generate potential space for workers. This way, the existence of 400 new jobs can recruit more than 1500 workers.
Also, this ‘significant investment’ would in turn be a prominent factor in local economic growth.
Lidl GB chief development officer Richard Taylor said: “Our ambitious warehouse plans demonstrate our commitment to investing not only in our distribution network but the country as a whole. An RDC in Leeds would be a great addition to the North, while we continue to keep a lookout for new sites in the South.
“In the last five years, we have opened over 240,000 sq m of warehouse space and invested over £700m, but we need more space and people to help us meet our growth targets. ”
Moreover, this multi-million-pound strategy will strengthen Lidl Co UK’s infrastructure across the country. As a result, this entire plan will bolster its warehouse plans.
Over the past years, Lidl Co UK has constructed over four RDCs; Motherwell, Peterborough, Doncaster, and Belvedere. Altogether Lidl offers UK citizens 1400 jobs opportunity with the establishment of a new site. However, building on this momentum by creating another RDC at Luton can alone support 1,500 jobs.
This August, its largest warehouse is set to open in Luton. Whereas, Lidl UK is looking for more locations in the South for the construction of its next warehouse. Hence, Lidl has submitted the plan to Leeds City Council to expedite this mission.
Lidl UK also announces that new recruits can earn around £11 an hour outside the premises of London. Thus visit your nearby Lidl warehouse by searching ‘Lidl near me’ to get more information.
