Plant-based fitness beverage, Barcode, has announced the latest face of its brand – basketball star Victor Wembanyama. This is the athlete’s first non-shoe endorsement deal, and he comes on board Barcode as its newest investor.

Wembanyama, nicknamed Wemby, has made waves in the industry as a generational talent. The French athlete was raised by his mother, a professional basketball player, and father, a triple jumper. Some of his accolades include silver medals as part of the French National U-16 Team in the European Championship.

Joining Barcode, the young athlete will be part of the brand’s philanthropic initiatives and participate in product research and development. He will also represent the brand across various advertising platforms, from digital to in-store and Out Of Home (OOH).

Wembanyama said, “The partnership with Barcode allows me not only to be a spokesmodel, but a role model. I want to be elite, on and off the court, and want my body to be the healthiest it has ever been. That’s why I chose Barcode over anything else.”

The Los Angeles-headquartered sports drink brand was established by Mubarak “Bar” Malik – a former member of the New York Knicks and Los Angeles Lakers Director of Performance – and NBA Champion Kyle Kuzma.

Kuzma, a fellow NBA player like Wembanyama, welcomed him warmly to the brand with a series of social media posts on Twitter.

Barcode is the first-ever plant-based sports drink made of all-natural ingredients. Specially developed for athletes, the beverage provides quick hydration, increased immunity, and naturally flavourful tastes. The company boasts an impressive lineup of investors like Carmelo Anthony, Gervonta Davis, Chelsea Gray, and more.
