Are you ready to witness the world’s most prominent downtown? Soon Riyadh will look like a city in a science fiction movie – with flying pods and floating rocks. For sure, everyone is waiting for this skyscraper to gaze in awe. But the sad news is that the Mukaab by Saudi Arabia will complete by 2030.

Mohammad Bin Salman, Saudi Arabia crowned prince made this special announcement to build the world’s largest modern downtown in Riyadh.

The word “Mukaab” is an Arabic derivative that means a cube which measures 400 meters in height, 400 meters in width, and 400 meters in length.

According to valid sources, this massive project will introduce the traditional Najdi architectural style for its exterior. In contrast, the interior will include the world’s first immersive destination. Its core will have the potential to flourish 20 empires. Moreover, this gigantic cube will integrate the latest digital and virtual technology.

According to the Arab news, “this massive structure will spread to more than 25 million square km of floor area. Further, it can have 104,000 residential units, 9000 hotel rooms, 980,000 square meters of retail space, 1.4 million square meters of office space, 1.8 million square meters of community facilities, and other outlet spaces.”

The Mukaab by Saudi Arabia is a future home to nine million people with its own transport system. This giant sky-high building will have a museum, university, theaters, and more.

However, Yasser Elsheshtawy, professor of architecture at Columbia University, speculated about this project and said,

“There is a tendency among Western and Arab observers to dismiss such projects out of hand, describing them as acts of folly and the outcome of people with too much money.”

Some mock this new city, as Saudi Arabia needs to collect $800 billion for this project. While others have high hope to witness this new world. Let’s wait till the best thing turns out.
