The premiere will be followed by five new openings across 2016 in Kuala Lumpur, Langkawi, the Maldives, Changsha, and Cairo

St. Regis Hotels & Resorts has launched a property called The St. Regis Macao, Cotai Central in Macau. The marque’s entry into the market represents a notable milestone as the destination is a UNESCO World Heritage site with more than 450 years of history and cultural exchange between China and Europe.

“There is an ever-increasing demand for luxury around the globe and Macau is no exception, especially with the recent proliferation of luxury brands in the market and a record number of visitors to the destination in 2015,” said Jim Petrus, Global Brand Leader of St. Regis Hotels & Resorts.

Owned by Venetian Orient, an affiliate of Sands China, the 400-room hotel is set to elevate the city’s hospitality landscape with its luxury experiences, butler service, culinary venues, and design. Underpinned by the St. Regis brand’s legacy, the debut marks its seventh location in Greater China.

The premiere will be followed by the unveiling of five fresh openings in 2016 across cities including Kuala Lumpur and Langkawi in Malaysia, the Maldives, Changsha in China, and Cairo in Egypt. The Macau launch marks the brand’s thirty-sixth property overall and follows openings this year in Istanbul, Mumbai, and Dubai.

“After ten years of rapid development, the Cotai Strip has elevated its status to a world-class tourism destination. The second phase of the Cotai Strip will offer a much more diversified experience for a new generation of luxury travellers,” said Stephen Ho, President, Asia Pacific of Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide.

The St. Regis Macao is the largest property in the group’s portfolio with the hotel ideally positioned along the coveted Cotai Strip to offer a fully integrated resort destination entailing premier shopping, dining, and entertainment facilities.
