Sony Pictures has named James Corden and Ilana Glazer to its 2017 cast of the animated comedy, Emojimovie: Express Yourself.

Sony Pictures Animation has partnered with James Corden and Ilana Glazer, who join previously announced T.J. Miller to lead the cast of summer 2017’s animated comedy, Emojimovie: Express Yourself. The film unlocks the never-before-seen secret world inside the smartphone.

Hidden within the messaging app is Textopolis, a city where emojis live while hoping to be selected by the phone’s user. In said dimension, each emoji has only one facial expression—except for Gene (Miller), an eager emoji born without a filter and is bursting with multiple expressions.

Determined to become ‘normal’, he enlists the help of his handy best friend, Hi-5 (Corden) and the notorious code breaker, Jailbreak (Glazer). Together, they embark on an epic app-venture through the apps on the phone, each its own wild and fun world, to find the code that will fix Gene.

When a greater danger threatens the phone, the fate of all emojis depends on the trio. The emoji-movie by Sony Pictures Animation launches via some of the most universally recognised smartphone apps. Produced by Michelle Raimo Kouyate, it will be released in theatres on 11 August 2017.

“Over six billion emojis are texted daily. They allow you to express yourself in a fun way. That is what our movie is about: self-expression. We have some of the smartest and funniest actors bringing their unique voices to the movie,” said Kristine Belson, President of Sony Pictures Animation.
