Shiseido has unveiled the second installation to its original web series, The Power of Makeup. The new film offers an immersive experience.
As part of its The Power of Makeup platform, Shiseido has released The Party Bus, an online film seeking to stretch the boundaries of imagination and inspire exploration into self-expression. Said ‘visual experience’ was created to elevate the familiar into a fresh genre: makeup entertainment.
The second and latest installment from its web-based series, the spot is a follow-up to the brand’s award-winning ad, High School Girl, which went on to generate more than 10 million views on YouTube since being rolled out in 2015. The creative boasts Japan’s three-dimensional animation technology.
Featuring mythical beings in a story about personal courage and revelation, The Party Bus was conceptualised by renowned Japanese film director, Show Yanagisawa. According to him, the Shiseido narrative celebrates individual beauty and champions self-expression.
Crafted for immersion, the short focuses on three protagonists—Princess Kaguya, her Dracula lover, and a mysterious Samurai Zombie. Embodying inner struggle, it reveals the feelings the princess bears for both. Her tears of conflict blend with her makeup to deliver transformative power.
The lead character in the Shiseido creative is played by Russian-Korean model and actress, Elena. Meanwhile, the Samurai Zombie is brought to life by female icon, Rina Fukushi. The Dracula was personified by model, dancer, and choreographer, ENDo.
