Exclusive to Canada, Pepsi Spire has partnered with NHL defenceman, Brent Burns, to delight fans in partnership with Subway Restaurants.

NHL defenceman, Brent Burns, of the San Jose Sharks, has partnered with Pepsi Spire, the digital beverage fountain available only at Subway restaurants in Canada, to inspire consumers to raise the flavour of their favourite beverages with customisable creations.

As part of the marketing push, the hockey star was engaged by the company to crash the Spire fountain at a Subway store in Quebec recently. Through virtual technology, Burns appeared on the machine’s digital touchscreen to surprise and delight unassuming guests.

To keep fans entertained, he bounced off the boards, learnt a little French, initiated hockey talk, and helped fans create their very own concoctions. The effort coincides with the World Juniors and adds excitement in the lead-up to the 2017 Scotiabank NHL Centennial Classic.

With said tournament set for 1 January, the spot starring Burns serves as a genuine treat for loyal followers. Meanwhile, Pepsi Spire pours up to three simultaneous flavour shots including lemon, vanilla, and cherry – with favourites like Mountain Dew, Pepsi or Brisk Iced Tea.

“We provide guests with offerings exactly the way they like it. Brent’s style, love of the game, and ability to mix things up made for a natural fit to engage with our guests through Pepsi Spire,” said Cristina Wells, Senior Director of National Marketing at Subway Canada.
