i-Tail Corporation and Major Cineplex Group have teamed up to open i-Tail Pet Cinema, Thailand’s first pet-friendly cineplex. The pet cinemas are Central Eastville’s EastVille Cineplex, Mega Bangna’s Mega Cineplex, and Major Cineplex’s Robinson Ratchapruek.

The pet-friendly movie-watching experience is currently limited to the first screening of weekend shows. Only small and medium-sized cats and dogs are allowed for now under strict conditions.

The i-Tail Pet Cinema’s campaign page has listed the full guidelines for furry visitors. All pets must be over four months old, clean, not aggressive, odourless, and weigh 15kg maximum.

Owners must ensure their pets are up to date on their vaccinations and flea and tick prevention medications. Pets in their mating season are discouraged from attending.

While in the cinema, pets must wear disposable pet diapers throughout the show. They are required to be in the allocated carrier bags in the cinema at all times.

To make the experience more pet-friendly, cinema lights will be left on, and the volume will be 30% lower. Pet food and beverage stations will be provided too, including pet accessory vending machines and snacks.

Major Cineplex Group’s Chief Marketing Officer, Narut Jiansanong, said that the decision to open the cinemas came after realising pet owners represented a significant demographic in said locations. He added that the new venture hopes to attract more pet owners to the movies and boost its occupancy rate by 10%.
