On Wednesday, Disney dropped the Little Mermaid’s new teaser. The highly anticipated live-action film stars Halle Bailey as Ariel, the mermaid. The announcement read, “Just 100 days until it arrives in theatres!”.
The first teaser came out in September last year. Halle Bailey treated the netizens by posting the teaser on Twitter. The post read, “I’m so very excited to continue the #Disney100 celebration with this new look at #TheLittleMermaid just 100 days until it arrives in theatres!”
Bailey, 20, is one-half of the R&B duo Chloe X Halle. The Beyoncé protégé got selected and cast for the role in July 2019.
The Little Mermaid’s new teaser is a 30-second preview. It shows Ariel swimming underwater while the beautiful song ‘Part of Your World’ plays in the background. The little mermaid interacts with other sea creatures and enjoys the underwater life. In addition, there are some exciting never-seen-before views of a few other mermaids.
There is another prominent glimpse packed within this half-a-minute teaser. It is the first look of Ariel meeting Prince Eric, played by Jonah Hauer-King. The preview ends with Ursula’s evil laugh, portrayed by Melissa McCarthy.
The live-action remake of this Disney classic also stars several other remarkable actors. These include, Javier Bardem as King Triton, Awkwafina enacting Scuttle, Daveed Diggs playing Sebastian, and Jacob Tremblay as Flounder. Finally, this long-awaited Rob Marshall-directed film is all-prepped to hit the theatres on May 26, 2023.
