As confirmed recently, Lady Gaga will not perform her nominated song at Oscars 2023. Gaga got her fourth career nomination for “Hold My Hand” song from the movie “Top Gun: Maverick.” However, she will not perform at the ceremony owing to scheduling conflicts.
The singer’s number received nomination for Best Original Song at the Oscars 2023. However, she is currently shooting for the Warner Bros’ DC Sequel ‘Joker: Folie a Deux,’ where she plays Harley Quinn.
Gaga will attend the ceremony as a nominee. But she has told the producers that she will not have enough time to prepare for a musical number.
It is a tradition at the Oscars to sing all nominated songs during the event. This year, all the other nominated acts will make an appearance except Gaga. These include:
- Rihanna (Lift Me Up),
- Stephanie Hsu, Son Lux and David Byrne (This Is a Life),
- Sofia Carson and Diane Warren (Applause), and
- Kaala Bhairava and Rahul Sipligunj (Naatu Naatu).
During the Oscars Creative Team press conference, Glenn Weiss (Oscar’s producer) said, “We have great relationships with Lady Gaga and her camp (but) she’s in the middle of shooting a movie right now, and here we are honouring the movie industry and what it takes to make a movie.”
On being nominated, Gaga shared her gratitude on social media. She wrote, “Thank you so much to the Academy for nominating my song ‘Hold My Hand’ for an Oscar this year! Writing this song for the film ‘Top Gun: Maverick’ was a deep and powerful experience that I will never forget. So grateful for the magic of music and cinema.”
Oscars 2023 will take place on 12 March at the Los Angeles’ Dolby Theatre.
