It is official! The iconic Oscar-winning diva, Lady Gaga, is in the Joker sequel. Gaga chose valentine’s day to show off the first image from ‘Joker: Folie à Deux.’ The picture shows her sharing an embrace with the lead star Joaquin Phoenix. Phoenix is back in the role of Arthur Fleck, aka the Joker.

Director Todd Phillips also shared the same picture on Instagram with the words “Happy Valentines Day,” authenticating the news further. Phillips successfully navigated the original ‘Joker’ to make it history’s highest-grossing R-rated movie. Now, he is back to directing the reportedly musical sequel and co-wrote the script with Scott Silver

The ‘Joker’ hit the theatres in 2019 and grossed $1.07 billion worldwide to break all records. Furthermore, it received nominations for 11 Oscars and nabbed two awards. Hildur Guðnadóttir won for the best score, and Phoenix marked his first win as the best actor. The sequel is expected to surpass previous records and earn Gaga another Oscar.
The pop-star turned actress officially confirmed her signing for the ‘Joker: Folie à Deux’ cast in August last year. The recently released image teaser shows Gaga staring maniacally at Phoenix with smeared lips. The picture confirms the casting of Lady Gaga in the Joker sequel and makes people anticipate her role as Harley Quinn.

What does Margot Robbie say about Lady Gaga in the Joker sequel?

DC Universe’s prior Harley Quinn, Margot Robbie, also expressed her belief in Gaga when she got selected as the next Harley Quinn in October, saying she would “do something incredible with it.” Robbie seems happy to pass the torch as she stated, “It makes me so happy because I said from the very beginning, all I want is for Harley Quinn to be one of those characters, the way Macbeth or Batman always gets passed from great actor to great actor.”
