Pokémon Day commemorates the anniversary of the original Japanese launch of Pokémon Red and Green on 27th February. Since 2016, The Pokémon Company has officially marked this special day with events, solidifying 27th February as a key date for the passionate Pokémon community.
This event includes activities such as announcements for new games and updates across the entire franchise. These announcements are unveiled commonly through official live streams named “Pokémon Presents.”
This year, the highly anticipated Pokémon Presents broadcast aired on 27th February at 9 AM EST. The exciting presentation unveiled a glimpse into a whole new era of Pokémon. The livestream was hosted by the CEO of The Pokémon Company , Tsunekazu Ishihara.

Pokémon Legends: Z-A
The upcoming Pokémon Legends: Z-A, arriving in 2025, takes players to the iconic location amidst an ambitious urban redevelopment plan, Lumiose City. This exciting new entry in the Pokémon series promises a world where humans and Pokémon coexist harmoniously.
Pokémon Go x Horizon
Launching on 5th March, a fresh collaboration event unfolds between Pokémon Go and the anime series Horizons: The Series two days before its exclusive US premiere on Netflix. The event extends until 11th March.
During this collaboration, Pokémon originating from the Pladea region—Charcadet, Armarouge, and Ceruledge—will debut in Pokémon Go. Adding to the excitement, a new costumed Pokémon, Pikachu wearing Cap’s Hat, will be featured throughout the event.
Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket
Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket is a joint venture involving the Pokémon Company, Creatures Inc. (the creator of the Pokémon Trading Card game), and DeNA (the creator of Masters Ex).
In this game, players can engage in battles with friends and amass virtual Pokémon cards. It caters to both seasoned Pokémon Trading Card Game enthusiasts and those who adore pocket monsters but have never ventured into the game before. The game will be released on iOS and Android later this year.
Pokémon Scarlet and Violet Tera Raid Battle Events
To celebrate Pokémon Day, Pokémon Scarlet and Violet will host a series of 7-star Tera Raid Battles featuring iconic Pokémon with the Mightiest Mark: Venusaur, Charizard, and Blastoise. The first round of these epic Tera Raid Battles kicked off on 27th February 2024 at 4:00 PM PST.
