“The launch of our Nairobi service is a strategic move that responds to the growing demand between the UAE and Kenya,” said Arik De, Chief Revenue and Commercial Officer at Etihad Airways. “By connecting Abu Dhabi to this vibrant African city, we are not only strengthening our network but also contributing to the tourism and economic development of both destinations. This route reinforces Abu Dhabi’s position as a global aviation hub while providing seamless access to Kenya’s thriving tourism market.”

The launch comes at an opportune time for Kenya’s tourism industry. With ambitious targets of 3 million visitors in 2024 and 5 million in the future, the country is well-positioned to capitalize on the growing global demand for travel.

Etihad Airways‘ commitment to global connectivity is evident in its ambitious 2025 expansion plan. The airline will launch services to thirteen new destinations across Europe, Asia, Africa, and North America: Warsaw and Prague in June; Al Alamein and Atlanta in July; Taipei in September; Medan, Phnom Penh, and Krabi in October; and Tunis, Chiang Mai, Hong Kong, Hanoi, and Algiers in November.

The Abu Dhabi-Nairobi route connects two vibrant cities with diverse offerings. Abu Dhabi, a cosmopolitan hub, blends tradition and modernity, offering iconic landmarks like the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque and Louvre Abu Dhabi, as well as world-class shopping and entertainment. Nairobi, a dynamic East African city, combines urban sophistication with natural beauty. Visitors can explore Nairobi National Park, immerse themselves in cultural attractions, and embark on safaris to Kenya’s renowned wildlife destinations.

Etihad Airways received global recognition at the World Travel Awards 2004, winning three prestigious awards: World’s Leading Airline – Customer Experience, World’s Leading Airline – Economy Class, and World’s Leading Airline Lounge – First Class.
