Inspired by Bruce Brown’s On Any Sunday starring McQueen, the Belstaff collection captures the carefree attitude of men and women.

Belstaff, a fashion enterprise steeped in London’s luxury heritage, has rolled out its SS17 collection inspired by Bruce Brown’s 1971 motorcycle film, On Any Sunday, starring Steve McQueen. The collection celebrates the carefree attitude of guys and girls from on and off the bike tracks.

Colours and design references were taken from the brand’s archive pieces of the era. The line also includes five looks from the Women’s Spring 17 pre-collection, applying the same early 70s vibe from the movie to feature suede, technical outerwear, denim, and leathers rich in racing motifs.

Belstaff has gone on to choose a very British location for the presentation, the Queen Elizabeth II Centre opposite Westminster Abbey. Interestingly enough, the grand event coincides with the Queen’s ninetieth birthday luncheon, which is being held a stone’s throw away from along The Mall.

In addition to apparel, the new season will see the debut of a line of accessories inspired by adventure travel, having linked up with photo agency, Magnum Photos. Photographer, Paolo Pellegrin, worked with Dyhr on the creation of a Magnum X Belstaff camera bag which can double as a Weekender for those not in the field.

“We are a dual-gender brand. We have always shown men’s and women’s together in our campaigns and have been working towards showing them together in our presentations. This season felt like the right time to start,” said Gavin Haig, CEO at Belstaff.

Meanwhile, the marque’s Colonial bag has been updated for the modern-day customer with leather trims, fresh hardware, and features promoting easy access; a backpack and tote complement the aforementioned. The items are offered in canvas with leather trims or in Belstaff’s proprietary hand-wax leather.

Pellegrin has shot the collection, for which the campaign launches in July. The company has also collaborated with NativeSons for a second summer—this year on a smaller aviator, the Ryder. The limited-edition goes on sale 14 June 2016 in stores and online.
