Produced and performed by Fred Armisen, KFC has rolled out its Nashville Hot record to celebrate the brand’s Nashville Hot Chicken.
KFC has released an album featuring its Nashville Hot record in conjunction with the brand’s Nashville Hot Chicken offering. Available exclusively on 331/3 and online for a limited time, the compilation was written, produced, and performed by actor and comedic personality, Fred Armisen.
While only 125 copies were produced, fans can listen to the songs online. A select number of the albums have also been placed in 14 record stores across the United States for those willing to crate-dig for a chance to obtain the lathe-cut gems. A list of store locations is available via the dedicated website.
The debut pays homage to Colonel Sanders’ tradition of producing his own vinyl albums—and features him on the cover. In the sixties, KFC produced everything from Christmas compilations from popular artistes of the time to Tijuana Brass knockoffs to trendy tunes from the Colonel’s mandolin band.
The fast food giant’s Nashville Hot Chicken collection includes the Extra Crispy Tenders, Extra Crispy Chicken, and Chicken Little sandwich. Due to popular demand from its American consumers, the quick service restaurant chain has extended said products’ limited run until the end of April next year.
Hot Chicken was born in Nashville, Tennessee, and is the newest food phenomenon in restaurants and food trucks throughout the country. The marque was the first national quick service brand to offer the trendy regional flavour when it launched its own version of the Nashville Hot Chicken in January 2016.
“Our fans are so passionate about our Nashville Hot Chicken that we’ve actually set a record for selling the most Nashville Hot Chicken servings ever. So making a lathe-cut record was the next absolutely logical, non-crazy thing to do. Clearly,” said Kevin Hochman US Chief Marketing Officer at KFC.
