The UK government is guaranteeing loans to Jaguar Land Rover amounting to £500 million in a bid to support the car manufacturer in producing electric cars.
Theresa May signed off the loan in one of her last acts as prime minister to help tackle the environmental goals for the UK.
The Prime Minister also committed the UK to ensuring that every new home built will have charging points installed for electric cars to support the potential growing numbers of electric cars on the road.
The Transport secretary Chris Grayling commented: “[It is] clear there is an appetite for cleaner, greener transport. Home charging provides the most convenient and low-cost option for consumers – you can simply plug your car in to charge overnight as you would a mobile phone.”
