Jaguar Land Rover and Gorillaz have partnered to launch a hunt for choice engineering talent via the band’s app using Alternate Reality.
Jaguar Land Rover and Gorillaz are working together to recruit the next generation of electronics and software engineering talent with a code-breaking challenge available through the virtual band’s app. The best performers will be fast-tracked through the recruitment process.
The initiative supports the carmaker’s goal to employ thousands of fresh talent over the next year. A major change in the way the brand looks for candidates, the strategy aims to tackle the engineering skills gap as well as inspire and attract a diverse range of talent and new thinking.
The project follows last year’s STEM initiative with Gorillaz, when founder and female guitarist, Noodle, was named Formula E Racing ambassador by Jaguar. The app has launched a recruitment area in the form of a 360-environment and introduced a two-part challenge.
Designed to educate users on the many benefits of electric vehicles, the first part involves assembling the I-PACE Concept, the automotive group’s first all-electric five-seater sports car. User will discover the vehicle’s performance, battery technology, space, charging as well as range.
The second part, developed to engage budding electronic wizards and coders, will focus on cracking the code in Alternate Reality Game format. The exercise provides a series of puzzles which was created to test one’s curiosity, persistence, lateral thinking, and problem solving skills.
“With the automotive industry transforming over the next decade, we’ve found an engaging way to recruit a diverse talent pool in software systems, cyber systems, app development as well as graphic performance,” said Alex Heslop, Head of Electrical Engineering for Jaguar Land Rover.
As one of the UK’s top investors in research and development and automotive leadership, Jaguar Land Rover is placing Noodle at the forefront of its campaign to address the skills gap in manufacturing worldwide. Applicants can download the Gorillaz App using iTunes or Google Play.
