The new release is based on a study indicating most men take about 170 strokes during each shave with 120 of them being re-strokes over the same area
Gillette has launched its latest variant called the Fusion ProShield, a product offering before-and-after lubrication so that the blades shield against irritation. The razor’s design is based on a study which suggests that most men take about 170 strokes during each shave with 120 of them being re-strokes over the same area of the face.
Re-strokes are generally those that are applied to the surface of the skin after that what is dubbed the ‘initial strokes’ have wiped away most of the protective gel. To tackle the aforementioned phenomenon, the new release features an improved cartridge to guard against the effects of the said habitual re-strokes.
The range is scheduled to reach North American in late December, while global availability slated for January 2016. Fusion ProShield is suited to males who shave on auto-pilot without realising. According to the same report, other such tendencies include chest-puffing when provoked and chin-stroking when thinking, to name a few.
Seeing as the above manoeuvre is tough to avoid, the brand has created a shaving tool equipped with additional and targeted shielding through lubrication to prevent skin irritation, redness, and bumps—which in turn allows men to look and feel their best when it comes to personal grooming.
The Lubrication Bar and Lubrastrip elements render the shaver a proactive companion particularly during extreme closeness between razor and skin. “With the latest razor technology, excessive re-stroking isn’t necessary for a close shave, but old habits are hard to break,” said Stew Taub, Director of Shave Care R&D at Gillette.
“At Gillette, we constantly look for solutions to help improve the shave for guys, and that is why we are introducing the new Fusion ProShield, with lubrication before and after the blades, to help shield from irritation during the shave. We have changed our blade cartridges so guys don’t need to change the way they shave.”
