The Disney boss, Bob Iger, has announced to Disney workers they will need to return to working in the office. The announcement of the 4 day in-office working week stated that this was expected to start in March.
In the memo seen by employees at the BBC, Iger said, “Nothing can replace the ability to connect, observe, and create with peers that comes from being physically together, nor the opportunity to grow professionally by learning from leaders and mentors.”
The announcement has come just months after Iger returned to Disney following his retirement after a 15-year stint with the company in 2021.
The memo went on to tell Disney workers: “As you’ve heard me say many times, creativity is the heart and soul of who we are and what we do at Disney. And in a creative business like ours, nothing can replace the ability to connect, observe and create with peers that comes from being physically together, nor the opportunity to grow professionally by learning from leaders and mentors.”
The move may be unpopular with some who have become accustomed to home working. During the pandemic, many workers were forced to work from home. Now, more and more companies are asking staff to come into the office for part of the week, offering ‘hybrid models’ of working.
