Citi has debuted #StandForProgress, a programme created to champion the conversation around how everyday people define progress, set goals, and overcome obstacles. The platform was developed in conjunction with Team USA for the Rio 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

The campaign aims to inspire dreamers to carve out their desired objectives alongside America’s elite athletes. Using the aforementioned hashtag, netizens can share their personal pursuits for the year or recognise others who support and inspire their efforts, regardless of the undertaking.

As part of the initiative, Citi has teamed up with six sports icons—Olympic gold medallists, Gabby Douglas, Kerri Walsh Jennings, and Nathan Adrian; Paralympic gold medallist, Rudy Garcia-Tolson; Olympic hopeful, Carlin Isles; and Paralympic contender, Scout Bassett.

The line-up joined the brand in visiting colleges nationwide. The students were selected from Pathways to Progress, a three-year effort worth $50 million under Citi Foundation which prepares 100,000 young people for success. The video content will debut on YouTube in spring and summer.

To date, the project has afforded nearly 4,000 youths summer employment opportunities, provided access to more than 325,000 hours of mentorship, and facilitated the start of 70 small businesses by young people. According to the group, the stories are uplifting examples of Americans pursuing their ambitions.

“For the video series launching today, we are excited to pair several Team Citi athletes with college students who have participated in Pathways to Progress to discuss how they define, achieve, and motivate others to realise progress,” said Edward Skyler, Head of Global Public Affairs at Citi.
