The anniversary will be commemorated with a History channel and Coca-Cola collaboration, feature on Counting Cars, plus more
Carl’s Jr. and History have partnered to introduce two series integrations to celebrate the former’s upcoming 75th anniversary on 17 July 2016. Episodes from returning series Counting Cars and American Restoration will feature two classic car restorations in a nod to the quick service giant’s success story.
Featured in the Season 5 episode of Counting Cars debuting on 8 March 2016, Andy Puzder, Chief Executive Officer of CKE Restaurants (parent company of Carl’s Jr. and Hardee’s) stops by Count’s Kustoms to commission a Carl’s Jr. themed car rebuild to commemorate the marque’s big day.
During the episode, Count’s Kustoms’ Founder, Danny Koker, unveils a perfectly restored ‘75 Corvette Stingray, complete with racing-grade engine and emblazoned with the number ‘75’. Coinciding with the execution, the two partners along with Coca-Cola will launch a special sweepstakes.
The contest places fans in the running to win the actual classic car depicted on the show. Other prizes include Carl’s Jr. and Coca-Cola merchandise as well as $75 Carl’s Jr. gift cards. The large cup promotion and sweepstakes runs from 29 February to 22 March 2016.
With the purchase of a large beverage at participating restaurants, guests will receive a unique entry code printed on all promotional cups. Upon retrieval, participants can log on to the chain’s official website to submit their entries. Each one receives an instant download coupon for a small Coke.
Puzder is also set to appear on an upcoming episode of American Restoration. He will work with series talent Bodie Stroud, CEO and Founder of BS Industries, to restore a 1941 Plymouth Super Deluxe. Once fully restored, the car will travel on a tour to select restaurant locations throughout the United States.
At the end of the tour, the Plymouth will be auctioned to raise funds for Carl’s Jr.’s Stars for Heroes programme supporting American military veterans. The American Restoration episode featuring the food service company is scheduled to premiere 18 March 2016 on the History channel.
The aspect celebrates the same year Carl’s Jr. Founder, Carl Karcher and his wife, Margaret, borrowed $311 against their own Plymouth and used $15 in savings to purchase a single hot dog cart in Los Angeles in 1941. The marque has since grown into the behemoth known for its premium charbroiled burgers worldwide.
“Counting Cars and American Restoration’s bold style and entrepreneurial spirit mirror the Carl’s Jr. brand. We’re thrilled to work with HISTORY and Coca-Cola to give our fans a view into our unique backstory and win,” said Steve Lemley, SVP of Field Marketing and Media at Carl’s Jr. and Hardee’s.
