The Buenos Aires Tourism Authority strategy celebrates the city’s designation as 2017’s Ibero-American Capital of Gastronomic Culture.

The Buenos Aires Tourism Authority is introducing free monthly visits, allowing travellers to discover the charms of the city’s ever-evolving culinary art scene. The strategy is in line with the destination’s designation as 2017’s Ibero-American Capital of Gastronomic Culture.

In conjunction with the campaign, tourists can join complimentary tours alongside locals for an insider’s view of its restaurants and eateries, including top classics and new discoveries. The scheduled tours are set to take place on the third Saturday of each month at 5:00 pm.

Accompanied by a different specialist at each run, the tours will showcase particular neighbourhoods and themes. The March edition is being led by the illustrious, Federico Cuco, a Buenos Aires celebrity bartender and icon within its community of trendy inhabitants.

From traditional Spanish-style taverns to Italian stone oven pizzerias to Argentine asado houses and more, visitors will receive the opportunity to explore key highlights throughout the year. The emphasis of the guided tours will be history, evolution and cuisine preparation.

“Gastronomic tourism is an area with huge potential. We offer dishes from immigrant cultures. Traditionally, these have been Italian and Spanish, but we’ve recently come to adopt the best of Latin America and more,” said Gonzalo Robredo, Executive Director of the Buenos Aires Tourism Authority.
