The ADVERTISING Club of New York, a leading professional organisation representing the vision and mission of the global advertising community across crafts, honoured Brad Jakeman, President, PepsiCo Global Beverage Group, as its 2015 Advertising Person of the Year.

Each year, The ADVERTISING Club of New York recognises those who have made outstanding contributions to the advertising industry with the Advertising Person of the Year Award and celebrates the recipient at its annual reception. Established in 1959 by The American Advertising Federation, recipients are those who have made successful contributions to his or her organisation, who have shown a consistent, high degree of creative ability, who have worked to raise the standards of the advertising profession, and who dedicate time and energy in areas of social concern. This year’s event was sponsored by Yahoo.

This year’s honoree Brad Jakeman is a highly respected force in the advertising and marketing community and widely regarded for his ability to drive powerful and engaging brands through innovative, creative and consumer-centric programs and platforms. Over the past ten years, Jakeman’s work has accumulated more than 200 awards, including an Emmy for the “Live Richly” brand platform while at CitiGroup.

He represents bravery, creativity and innovation, impacting pop culture and entertainment across all verticals and breaking boundaries between the marketing community and the rest of the world. Brad has a passion that cannot be duplicated, and he is truly deserving of this honor,” said Gina Grillo, President & CEO of The ADVERTISING Club of New York/Int’l ANDY Awards.

Currently Jakeman serves as President, PepsiCo Global Beverage Group where he pioneers global strategy, brand building, innovation, productivity and processes for PepsiCo’s global portfolio of beverages and brands including Pepsi, 7UP, Mountain Dew and Mirinda, among others.

Before joining PepsiCo, Jakeman served as Executive Vice President, Chief Creative Officer & Chief Marketing Officer for Activision Blizzard Inc., the world’s largest videogame and interactive entertainment company. There, Jakeman spearheaded the marketing efforts for Guitar Hero and Call of Duty, the latter yielding the largest entertainment launch in history – garnering over $600M in sales in only four days of release. He also served as Executive Vice President for Marketing at Macy’s Inc. and helped create the retailer’s first national brand campaign by partnering with Martha Stewart, Jessica Simpson, Kenneth Cole, Tommy Hilfiger, Emeril Lagasse, Kimora Lee Simmons, Russell Simmons, Usher, Sean (P. Diddy) Combs and Marc Ecko. In addition, Jakeman serves on The AD Club’s Board of Directors.

Jakeman joins a prestigious list of recipients as the AD Club’s Advertising Person of the Year including:

  • Steve Pacheco, Director of Sponsorship Marketing, FedEx Services, and 2013 Advertising Person of the Year who presented this year’s award;
  • Dana Anderson, Chief Marketing Officer, Mondelez International (2014);
  • Esther Lee, now EVP, Global CMO at MetLife, & Charlene Lake, SVP, Public Affairs and Chief Sustainability Officer from AT&T (2012);
  • Lisa Cochrane, SVP of Marketing at Allstate (2011); among many others.
