Blackjacks worldwide celebrate as YG Entertainment announces the legendary K-pop girl group 2NE1’s comeback.

In a surprise announcement video released at midnight, YG Entertainment’s founder, Yang Hyun-suk, revealed a reunion for their legendary K-pop girl group, 2NE1. This marks the 15th anniversary of the group, which is considered YG’s first major girl group success. To celebrate, 2NE1 will kick off a global concert tour with shows scheduled into 2025.

The tour will kick off in Seoul sometime in early October. From there, 2NE1 will head to Japan for shows in Osaka and Tokyo in late November and December, respectively. Get ready for more concert announcements, as YG hinted at additional stops, stating they’re working on scheduling more performances.

YG Entertainment’s powerhouse girl group, 2NE1, debuted in 2009. CL (Lee Chae-rin), Dara (Sandara Park), Bom (Park Bom), and Minzy (Gong Min-ji) formed this groundbreaking K-pop quartet. They racked up awards throughout their career and left a lasting legacy on the Korean entertainment scene while challenging the typical K-pop mould.

Notorious for pushing boundaries with their music, rocking trendsetting fashion, and captivating audiences with their undeniable stage presence, 2NE1 became a frontrunner of the Korean Wave (Hallyu). This second-generation K-pop group took the world by storm with their unique blend of talent and charisma.

2NE1 took a break in 2015, allowing the members to explore solo activities. Their only reunion during this time was a surprise performance at the 2015 Mnet Asian Music Awards (MAMA) in Hong Kong, which became the most-watched MAMA performance by a girl group ever!

This sparked hope for a full reunion, but unfortunately, Minzy left the group shortly after, leaving fans (affectionately called Blackjacks) heartbroken. YG Entertainment then officially disbanded 2NE1 in 2016. Their final farewell song, “Goodbye,” a heartfelt trio recording, was released in January 2017.

K-Pop fans went into a frenzy in April 2022 when legendary girl group 2NE1 reunited for a surprise performance at Coachella. Their electrifying comeback, featuring their hit song “I Am the Best,” marked their first performance together since disbanding.

This epic moment wasn’t just a win for Blackjacks. Still, publications lauded it as one of Coachella’s best performances, solidifying its place as a major pop culture phenomenon of the year. Taking to their social media, the 2NE1 members excitedly shared the news following Yang’s announcement.

BLACKPINK’s 2025 World Tour: Get Ready BLINKS!

The agency also announced a massive year of world tours featuring BLACKPINK and other K-pop acts.

Get ready to celebrate with BLACKPINK! Just before their eighth anniversary on August 8th, YG Entertainment announced a much-anticipated comeback in 2025! This exciting news comes ahead of their first public appearance in nearly a year. BLINKs can mark their calendars for a special “OUR AREA WITH BLINK” fan sign event to commemorate the anniversary while gearing up for the group’s return and world tour next year.

2025 is shaping up to be a massive year for YG Entertainment! Mark your calendars for 2NE1 and BLACKPINK’s comeback, world tours galore, and potentially a brand new group to stan. Buckle up, K-Pop fans – it’s going to be wild!
