Mercedes-Benz and Federer Have Been Close Partners for 10 Years
Roger Federer extends successful partnership with the Stuttgart brand, Mercedes-Benz, with the star as a global brand ambassador.
The athletic career of the 36-year-old athlete seems consistent, unparalleled and enduring with 20 Grand Slam titles, 96 total titles and a record 302 weeks holding the number one ranking; Federer has set the standard in Men’s Tennis.
“Roger Federer is an outstanding athlete who has shaped tennis for decades and stands for top performance. As a successful top athlete, he ideally represents our brand as we are united by the demand for perfection and the will to succeed.
“Beyond sport, he is a great personality and a true gentleman with a heart, that cares for the game and those less fortunate, and is adored by his fans. With his pioneering tennis format Laver Cup, Roger is the pioneer of new, modern tennis events and, like the brand itself, he carves out innovative paths,” said Dr Jens Thiemer, Vice President Marketing Mercedes-Benz Cars.
“I am proud to cooperate with Mercedes-Benz over such a long period of time. Mercedes-Benz is one of the most iconic global brands in the world and I am so excited to continue this incredible partnership and be part of the Mercedes-Benz family for many years to come,” said Roger Federer.
A good two weeks after his Australian Open victory, Roger Federer has been playing in another ATP tournament since 12 February. If he should play his way into the semi-final in Rotterdam in the Netherlands, he could take the top position in the world rankings again for the first time in over five years. If he achieves this, he will become the oldest player in men’s tennis history to ever hold the #1 ranking.
Since 2008, Mercedes-Benz and Roger Federer have collaborated on press events and productions for TV, print and social media publications. Examples include Roger’s appearance in the globally broadcasted TV ad of the V-Class and the Chinese TV commercial for the M-Class. In addition, Roger Federer unveiled the vehicle as part of the MercedesCup 2016 at the world premiere of the E-Class T model.
Mercedes-Benz is a two-time global winner of the World Branding Awards, in the Automotive category.
