Betfair has released its latest campaign, Back the Whistleblowers, which features an exclusive partnership with Arsenal Football Club.

Online bookmaker, Betfair, has launched its new campaign, Back the Whistleblowers, which highlights the crucial role match officials play in the game and just how tough it can be. The effort marks its partnership with Arsenal Football Club and three of the association’s players.

In an exclusive launch video, Olivier Giroud, Nacho Monreal, and Petr Cech take turns to officiate an 11-a-side match. Among the amateur players featured were former Premier League officials, Mark Halsey and Glenn Turner, who were tasked with rating refereeing performance.

Also, the brand is collaborating with You Are The Ref, an organisation that helps referees progress their skill set at all levels. Betfair will donate £10 to the movement for every yellow card issued in the Premier League to date. Said allotment includes the games set for this weekend.

The funds donated will be used to enrol more grassroots referees in special training courses to help enhance the overall standards of refereeing and participation numbers in the United Kingdom. Excluding Asia, the company is Arsenal Football Club’s official betting partner.

“With so many officials under fire during and after each game, our campaign is particularly relevant. We partnered with You Are The Ref to show support and help with the improvement of refereeing standards in the UK,” said Harry Phillips, Sponsorship Manager at Betfair.
