Dua Lipa, the singer-songwriter of English and Albanian descent, has been named Yves Saint Laurent Beauty’s latest global makeup ambassador.
Expanding her role with the brand, the 28-year-old, who has been the face of the brand’s Libre fragrance since 2019, will now collaborate on a new three-wave campaign. This collaboration aims to launch the new lips collection, YSL Loveshine.
Additionally, the campaign will kick off with the introduction of the lip gloss stick Candy Glaze, followed by the debut of the Wet Shine lipstick on March 15. Subsequently, in April, there will be a nationwide release of various nude shades, with a final product set to launch later this year.
“For me, fragrances and make-up are another form of self-expression, a way to explore my playfulness, creativity, and individuality. I am thrilled to be on this journey as part of the YSL Beauty family,” said Dua Lipa, a Grammy award winner and the founder of Service95, a global style, arts and society venture.
Directed by Nathalie Canguilhem, the inaugural campaign for the luxury French cosmetics brand was filmed in Morocco. It aims to pave the way for a “new generation of makeup consumers in 2024.”
Stephan Bezy, the international general manager at Yves Saint Laurent Beauty, said in a statement, “Through her electrifying energy, Dua Lipa brings a dynamic essence to our brand, inspiring women to wear makeup and assert themselves and their values. Her influence epitomizes the celebration of individuality and empowerment, urging all to embrace their distinctive beauty confidently”.
Furthermore, the beauty label states, “YSL Loveshine transcends mere makeup collection; it embodies a declaration of radiance: a bold manifestation fuelled by self-love and an unapologetic attitude, perfectly complemented by Dua Lipa.”
Moreover, the launch of the YSL Loveshine franchise introduces the new Lip Oil Stick, featuring a variety of creamy, high-shine nude shades suitable for everyone. The campaign holds significance in Morocco near the YSL Beauty Ourika Community Gardens, where the Maison ethically sources ingredients for numerous beauty products. Morocco is cherished in the brand’s history, as Yves Saint Laurent found inspiration and joy in this vibrant country.
In past years, Yves Saint Laurent has appointed various beauty ambassadors, such as singer-songwriter Lil Nas X, actress Zoë Kravitz, actor Austin Butler, and the inaugural UK local ambassador, Yasmin Finney, known for her role as Elle Argent in the Netflix series Heartstopper.
Lipa marked her acting debut in Greta Gerwig’s “Barbie,” portraying the character of Mermaid Barbie. Additionally, she contributed to the official soundtrack of the Oscar-nominated film with her song “Dance The Night.”
In early February, Lipa was among the 40 women spotlighted on Vogue’s final cover under former editor-in-chief Edward Enninful. The cover featured prominent figures such as Oprah, Naomi Campbell, and Victoria Beckham.
