Starring John Malkovich and directed by Robert Rodriguez, the futuristic 100 Years film is touted as ‘The Movie You Will Never See’.
In an exclusive partnership between Louis XIII Cognac and the franchise behind 100 Years, it has been established that said film will not be released until 18 November 2115. Starring actor, John Malkovich, and directed by Robert Rodriguez, it is touted as ‘The Movie You Will Never See.’
Envisioning earth one hundred years from the present, the motion picture is inspired by the century of careful craftsmanship and patience is takes to create each decanter of the aforementioned spirit. The concoction is said to be an intricate alchemy of up to 1,200 eaux-de-vie, the youngest of which is 40 years old.
To ensure that the aforementioned film remains secure until its official premiere, it is being held in a customised safe scheduled to open automatically in a century when the timing is complete. Meanwhile, the unique copy will be showcased during the Cannes Film Festival.
“100 Years starring John Malkovich is clearly an innovative cinematographic project. I hope that our descendants will consider the movie for the Palme d’Or at Cannes Film Festival in 2116,” said Thierry Frémaux, General Delegate of Cannes Film Festival.
Just as each cellar master dedicates his life to creating a LOUIS XIII masterpiece he will never experience, the cast and crew of 100 Years will never see the final cut of the film. The concept led the creative direction of the film which explores the fascinating concept of what the future might look like in a hundred years.
The safe in which the one and only copy of the film is in, has been created in partnership with world-leading manufacturer of safes and vaults, Fichet-Bauche, which was established in France during 1825. The brand belongs to the Gunnebo security group portfolio.
“We wanted a safe box that can be opened like never before—with nothing else but time. Once the door is shut, the countdown begins and there is no way of opening it until the one hundred year countdown is complete on 18 November 2115. Since the system that could guarantee we hold our promise didn’t exist, we invented it,” said Ludovic du Plessis, Executive Global Director of LOUIS XIII.
After its travels from Los Angeles to Tokyo through Hong Kong, London, and New York before coming back to LOUIS XIII cellars in Cognac, for a century, the cognac giant will showcase the safe in its natural setting during Cannes Film Festival, in The LOUIS XIII SUITE at Hôtel Le Majestic Barrière Cannes.
