Hormel has released a creative campaign inviting Americans to jazz up homemade meals with the addition of pepperoni as the star ingredient.

Hormel has introduced an advertising push targeting its American audience. Developed to inspire pepperoni lovers to think outside the pizza pie, three spots have launched to remind consumers of the versatile ways in which the ingredient can be used for homemade meals.

In keeping with the campaign theme, the creative features a series of animated videos called pepsidoes. Each simply illustrated film shows how the topping can jazz up favourites like nachos and quesadillas. The ads end with the slogan: Think it up. Make it up. Pep it up!

The 15-second Hormel commercials will air on national television and across select digital and social media channels. Campaign and creative strategy were developed in collaboration with BBDO Minneapolis. Media planning and buying activities were done by PHD Worldwide.

“Pepperoni is a versatile ingredient that can unleash any family’s creativity. We have found that pepperoni enables the fun of hands-on meal creation and the freedom to pizza-fy almost any recipe,” said Jeremy Zavoral, Brand Manager, Hormel Pepperoni.
