PayPal international money transfer service, Xoom, has appointed the world’s fastest man, Usain Bolt, as its global brand ambassador.

Xoom, international money transfer service under PayPal, has signed eight-time Olympic gold medallist, Usain Bolt, as its global ambassador through 2020. The deal kicks off with the expansion of the marque’s footprint north of the border to serve the Canadian market.

Customers will now be able to send money to, reload phones, and perform bill payments for loved ones in more than 130 countries globally. The Jamaican sprinter will represent the portfolio in its inaugural marketing campaign, Money Go Xoom, launching this month in the United States and Canada.

The push will be brought to life with appearances from Bolt across a variety of digital and broadcast spots. His role will complement the brand’s aim to highlight the security, speed, and convenience of its payment services worldwide. The appointment reflects the values shared between the athlete and Xoom.

To support local communities, the sportsman started the Usain Bolt Foundation in 2014. The platform creates opportunities for Jamaican youths via education, sporting provisions, and cultural development. The above effort resonates with the initiatives of PayPal and those of its extended brands.

“Usain Bolt is a natural fit as our global brand ambassador. We look forward to working with him during an exciting time as we continue to expand our services and help new populations in need of fast and reliable international money transfers,” said Julian King, Vice President and General Manager, Xoom.
