As its new creative head, the marketing and product design veteran is responsible for continually evolving the agency’s creative vision
Camp Playa, the new integrated communications agency by Vision 7 International, has appointed marketing and product design veteran, Rob Alley, to the role of Digital Creative Director. As its hands-on creative leader, he will be charged with continually evolving the agency’s creative vision.
He is set to leverage the network’s mobile-first approach to develop solutions that help clients drive new business and solve problems. A conceptual storyteller whose synthesis of product design and marketing has led to a series of award-winning campaigns, he assists brands in communicating so as to better fulfil their brand promise.
Prior to joining Camp Playa, Alley served as VP and Executive Creative Director at Midnight Oil, where he worked with blue-chip clients such as Activision, Disney, FOX, Adidas, Ubisoft, and Warner Bros. Under his leadership, the firm was named Game Marketing Awards’ 2014 Agency of the Year.
His experience in product development includes working as Senior Human Interface Designer at Palm Inc where he led design efforts for the original webOS mobile platform. His contributions resulted in the first ever ‘triple crown’ at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) Innovation Awards.
His agency experience also includes a very successful tenure as Interactive Creative Director at McCann Erickson/MRM Worldwide in San Francisco, where he led digital and mobile initiatives for Intel. He also worked at The Designory, where he spearheaded a full redesign of the Nissan USA website.
The work entailed an expansive ‘Build Your Own Vehicle’ shopping tool and a model-specific microsite that earned Webby Award honours. An earlier stint at Genex, now the digital practice of global agency, Meredith Xcelerated Marketing, earned Alley the prestigious Don Belding Award for his work on behalf of Acura.
Born and raised in Washington DC, Alley studied media arts and animation at the Illinois Institute of Art, and earned an undergraduate degree in advertising from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. Vision 7 is a fully integrated marketing communications firm serving well-known brands in North America and worldwide.
