Partnership Connects UK Companies with Newegg’s Global Customers

UK Trade & Investment (UKTI) and Newegg – the largest tech-focused e-commerce platform in the US – today unveiled a partnership to take top UK brands and retailers into the North American market. Six UK companies have already signed up through the joint programme. The six UK companies already signed up include BundleBean, with innovative baby travel products; Ridge, the retro skateboard brand; and Gooey Skins, creators of fashion and art-based phone skins. A leading UK ethical wellbeing brand Fushi also signed on to the Newegg platform, as has card-printers.net and Navi-Tech, suppliers of satellite navigation products.

They join more than 30 UK businesses already selling on the Newegg platform. The UKTI and Newegg partnership is designed to streamline the process of selling to North American customers and those in key parts of Europe and Asia. UKTI provides the vital link with these companies in the UK, while Newegg offers its proven infrastructure and access to its 28 million customers.

“North American customers are very appreciative of branded products from the UK, from new, innovative technologies to brands with a great heritage”

“It gives me great pleasure to sign this partnership and we hope to see more UK brands and retailers joining those who are already trading successfully in the USA with Newegg,” said Denise Harris-Williams, Director of UKTI E-Exporting Programme.

Newegg offers UK brands the benefit of a well-established and heavily used e-commerce platform as well as logistical and payment-processing support. By working with the UKTI and Newegg, UK businesses can reduce the risk and cost of market entry, and reach the US market much more quickly than they could by establishing their own presence from scratch.

“North American customers are very appreciative of branded products from the UK, from new, innovative technologies to brands with a great heritage,” said Soren Mills, Chief Marketing Officer of Newegg. “Our collaboration with UKTI is a great way for Newegg to meet companies seeking to take their products to US customers. We anticipate continued success of the programme in the months and years ahead.”

Under the agreement, Newegg will extend its First from Europe programme to businesses in the UK, whereby Newegg becomes the conduit for these businesses to reach customers in North America for the first time. Newegg infrastructure available to UK retailers under the programme includes Shipped by Newegg, a programme established by Newegg to handle warehousing and order fulfillment. In addition, Newegg will offer UK businesses participating in the UKTI program its robust payment processing solution, which includes a host of secure mobile- and web-based transaction options and exclusive merchandising opportunities, along with a UKTI-exclusive commercial commission rate that is discounted from the standard rate.

One of the first UK businesses to sign on with Newegg following the agreement was Fushi Wellbeing. Rannesh Jansari, Founder, said, “Fushi Wellbeing is a leading UK ethical well-being brand. We decided to join the Newegg marketplace following their excellent webinar presentation via the UKTI. From deciding to join to complete implementation Newegg was very helpful. The whole process took two weeks to set up and we are now enjoying regular sales from their marketplace. We are very pleased with our decision and have already implemented some great marketing programmes.”

Emily Goodall, Owner, BundleBean Ltd., added, “BundleBean had been looking at the US market for some time and was delighted to meet the team from Newegg and explore the idea of selling B2C. It has given our business a chance to break into the US market with no upfront setup or monthly fees, promotional opportunities, the ability to ship directly from the UK in the short term and a very easy-to-use back end, not to mention a supportive team. This is a great opportunity for a British brand to enter the US and we have no doubt this will be a great boost to our sales overseas.”

Newegg already serves customers in the United Kingdom and this partnership with UKTI extends its commitment to the UK by helping local businesses reach a more global customer base. Newegg also plans to introduce the First from Europe program to its Canada site; starting in July, UK sellers can also apply to become a seller on the company’s Canada marketplace Newegg.ca.

Responding to the global growth of ecommerce UKTI launched the E-Exporting programme to help UK companies export their goods and services. For UK exporters the programme offers three key benefits in their export journey; it provides free, impartial advice from experienced digital specialists; it has negotiated improved commercial terms with many of the world’s leading e-marketplaces; and it has a comprehensive events programme.
