Following EE’s launch last month, Three have now followed suit announcing their 5G launch.

Starting with home broadband in London in August, the 5G service will extend to mobiles shortly after.

Although Vodafone came in as the second company announcing a 5G service, Three claims theirs will be twice as fast.

Tho mobile operator will be rolling out the service to 25 locations across the UK by the end of 2019.

As with their competition, to use Three’s 5G service, consumers will need to be in a 5G area and have a 5G enabled smartphone of home broadband device. The devices available will be announced in July.

Dave Dyson, the Three chief executive said: “It’s clear that consumers and businesses want more and more data. We have the UK’s best network for data and we have led the market on customer usage on both 3G and 4G technologies. ‘We have worked hard over a long period of time to be able to offer the best end to end 5G experience. 5G is a game changer for Three, and of course I am excited that we will be the only operator in the UK who can offer true 5G.”
