Sony has unveiled the PS5 Pro, a high-end gaming console boasting superior graphics, ray tracing, and AI-enhanced visuals. However, it comes with a hefty price tag and no disc drive.
In a recent video presentation, Mark Cerny showcased the PS5 Pro’s powerful hardware, including a more powerful GPU that boasts 67% more compute units and 28% faster memory than the standard PS5, enhancing gaming performance.
Cerny noted that 75% of PS5 players opt for a game’s performance preset, favoring higher frame rates, while only 25% choose enhanced visual quality. However, PS5 Pro owners won’t have to choose as the console will deliver a stable 60fps at maximum detail settings.
According to Mark Cerny, 75% of PS5 players prioritise higher frame rates, while only 25% choose enhanced visuals. However, the PS5 Pro offers the best of both worlds, delivering stable 60fps gameplay with maximum detail settings.
The PS5 Pro’s powerful performance is partly due to its revolutionary upscaling technology, which harnesses the power of machine learning to elevate visuals to a whole new level. Similar to Nvidia DLSS, this technology enhances frame rates and significantly improves ray tracing performance. The PS5 Pro’s faster ray tracing delivers more realistic lighting effects, ensuring an immersive gaming experience without compromising performance.
In a recent PlayStation blog post, Sony confirmed that the PS5 Pro will be a digital-only console but will support the Ultra HD Blu-ray Disc Drive addon. It has a similar design to the original PS5 but is slightly wider, with three black stripes to distinguish it.
The PS5 Pro features advanced technologies like VRR, 8K output, and Wi-Fi 7. It’s compatible with existing PlayStation accessories and offers the same user interface as the standard PS5.
Sony’s PS5 Pro will offer enhanced versions of popular games, including Alan Wake 2 and Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. It will also improve the performance of existing PS4 and PS5 titles with features like PS5 Pro Game Boost and Enhanced Image Quality.
The PS5 Pro is set to launch on November 7th. However, it comes with a significant price tag of $700/£700/€800. Despite the high cost, the PS5 Pro offers substantial storage, with 2TB included as standard. This means you’ll have plenty of space for your games and media. Pre-orders will be available this September 26th via PlayStation’s official website.
With the PS5 Pro, Sony is set to elevate the gaming experience to new heights, blending cutting-edge performance with enhanced visual fidelity. Whether diving into the latest AAA titles or revisiting classics, the added power and features ensure smoother, more immersive gameplay. This coming November, gamers can look forward to a new gaming experience that pushes the boundaries of what the PlayStation ecosystem has to offer.
