She brings with her high-profile marketing communications experience, having led internal and external public relations for over a decade

TBWA has appointed Anaka Kobzev (pictured) to the position of Global Head of Communications. She has been tasked with further developing the brand’s collective global communications strategy and promoting the company’s vision for Disruption in key markets around the globe.

The fresh hire brings with her a wealth of high-profile marketing communications experience, having led both internal and external public relations for top agencies over the past 14 years. Based at the New York global headquarters, she will report to TBWA CEO, Troy Ruhanen.

She joins the global executive team at an important time in TBWA’s history. The company has publicly pledged to achieve a more balanced representation of women in senior leadership roles across the board over the next few years. Kobzev officially assumes office on 18 April 2016.

She steps into the role J. Walter Thompson where she served as Director of Communications for North America, and was responsible for creating and implementing communications strategy and messaging as well as spearheading media relations, executive visibility, and partnerships for the agency’s U.S. and Canadian outposts.

The new communications chief in the past has developed numerous communications programmes to enhance agency presence at major events, including the Cannes Lions Festival. In the capacity, she managed integrated marketing and communications campaigns for both national and multinational clients.

Prior to JWT, she held a dual role with Interpublic Group as Communications Director for McCann Erickson and twofifteenmccann offices in San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Detroit. She also provided support for the network’s west coast units and oversaw media relations, speaking engagements, and events.

In addition, she worked closely with blue-chip brands such as HP, Nestle, Xbox, and Under Armour in order to amplify campaign publicity. Meanwhile, she proved instrumental to the launch of the group’s Emerging Media Lab. She started her career in corporate communications at IPG’s Initiative.
