Mars Chocolate has introduced an added layer to Snickers’ global campaign titled You’re Not You When You’re Hungry, an extension developed for its Super Bowl 50 push. The first blush of an upcoming promotional series, it features a hungry ‘Marilyn Monroe’ preparing to reprise her iconic Happy Birthday performance.
Featuring a quirky side, the teaser clip presents a glitzy singing sensation but with a far less seductive voice so as to capture the campaign’s witty theme. The said prelude has rolled out across the candy giant’s official YouTube channel, with a 30-second commercial scheduled to air on 7 February 2016 via CBS.
Developed by creative agency, BBDO New York, the video no more than hints at what is to come during the Big Game. Nonetheless, like each commercial from the aforementioned series, the opening spot is aimed at reminding fans that Snickers is all about satisfying hunger.
“Since we’re kicking-off the 50 celebration of one of the world’s most iconic events, it seemed only fitting to cast Marilyn Monroe, a Hollywood icon with global appeal, to help us celebrate. This is just a glimpse of what America should expect on Super Bowl Sunday,” said Allison Miazga-Bedrick, Director of the Snickers brand.
