Secret has created a campaign which features a cast of advocates that addresses the $513 billion in lost wages affecting women every year.
Deodorant brand, Secret, has rolled out a campaign centred around women and the progress they represent. Titled I’d Rather Get Paid, the message focuses on zero disparity and equal pay. For the push, the group teamed up with Ladies Get Paid and The Wing.
Featuring cameos by a cast of well-known advocates, the film takes the form of a music video which features actresses, Sophia Bush and Samira Wiley; two-time Olympic gold medallist, Swin Cash; journalist, Catt Sadler; soccer star, Abby Wambach, and others.
Women are encouraged to go online for access to a free toolkit from Secret that offers guidance on salary negotiation and how businesses can further drive change in said area. In line with the wider effort, a series of workshops will commence across the United States.
The Secret exercise shed lights on important research which shows that twenty percent of American women get paid less than men. Figures also indicate that the disparity is greater for black and Latin females who earn 38 and 46 percent less than white males respectively.
“There are some things women shouldn’t have to sweat, like getting paid what they are worth. We want to build on the conversation around closing the wage gap and give them the tools and inspiration to stop sweating the issue,” said Sara Saunders, Associate Brand Director for Secret.
