Royal Canin has partnered with the Founder of The Animal Project Foundation, Carrie Ann Inaba, for its #Cat2VetDay campaign activities.

According to a recent survey by Royal Canin, while 92 percent of cat owners agree that their cat’s health is important to them, only 41 percent take theirs to the vet for regular check-ups. Also, it was found that only one cat is seen by a veterinarian for every five dogs, despite the fact that 10 million more cats are owned in the United States.

In line with the study’s findings, the pet nutrition giant is partnering with choreographer, host, three-cat owner, and Founder of The Animal Project Foundation, Carrie Ann Inaba (pictured), for National Take Your Cat to the Vet Day, which falls on 22 August, to encourage cat owners across the nation to translate their love of cats into visits to the vet.

To inspire people to get involved with National Take Your Cat to the Vet Day, the company is inviting cat owners to share a photo of their furkids using the hashtag #Cat2VetDay. Campaign revellers are also encouraged to volunteer tips for a successful and stress-free visit. For every share, Royal Canin will donate $5 to Frankie’s Friends.

Supporting cat health in the country, several organisations including the American Association of Feline Practitioners, CATalyst Council, The International Cat Association, and Cat Fanciers’ Association have gotten on board the project to steer the cause forward and drive added attention to the importance of preventive veterinary care for cats.

Based on the research conducted, veterinary visits should not be limited to treating an illness or pain. Preventive care through annual or semi-annual visits is critical, allowing vets to gain key details on a cat’s medical history and behaviours. Body weight monitoring, nutrition, and keeping vaccinations current are equally critical for cats.

“Our goal is to rally cat owners, veterinarians, industry partners, and celebrities together to focus on the importance of veterinary care for cats. While the gap in preventive veterinary care between dogs and cats in the United States is still a concern, the great news is that it can be addressed,” said Kamie Eckert, President of Royal Canin USA.

Royal Canin is a national Animalis Edition winner of the 2017-2018 World Branding Awards under the Cat Food – Dry/Kibble category.
