The NBA and BroadbandTV have created a YouTube channel and series that will feature joint productions and digital influencer content.
The National Basketball Association and digital entertainment company, BroadbandTV, have partnered to introduce a collaborative YouTube channel. Dubbed NBA Playmakers, the fresh space will feature a selection of original shows starring players under the professional association, alongside online influencers.
The platform is composed of programming that mixes digital celebrities and their fanbases with the athletes and teams. Creators in the network will attend select marquee events that include the Draft, Summer League, and All-Star. Said opportunities will afford behind-the-scenes access to produce exclusive content.
With joint productions by the NBA and BBTV and influencer-created shows, topics span basketball culture, training, entertainment, fitness, fashion, gaming, and more. The series will be cross-promoted via the association’s social media and YouTube outlets, with a combined global community of 1.5 billion backers.
The above referenced joint productions include:
Run That Back: a reaction and commentary-driven series focused on the game’s history, legends and recent events.
Jump Start: a fireside chat series between Playmakers on skills, teams, and iconic moments with a comedic bent.
On the Court: an on-court training and casual games show featuring highly prominent creators on social media.
“We’re excited to launch this channel to further reach our passionate fans. This community of creators has become part of our family and helped us connect with fans in a new way,” said Jeff Marsilio, SVP, New Media Distribution for the National Basketball Association.
Digital influencer produced shows include:
NBA Breakdown: a technical and in-depth look at what makes players great at the game.
Best of Sneakers: a weekly series hosted by a sneakerhead, diving into their top sneaker favourites at major games.
Community Mixtapes: stylised by Golden Hoops and MaxaMillion, the tapes deliver a creator spin on big moments.
