Hume will head European operations for Ketchum, including some of the largest markets in its portfolio. He also remains CFO for the region.

Ketchum has appointed Mark Hume (pictured) to Chief Operating Officer in Europe, effective immediately. In the role, he will partner with Chairman and CEO, Rob Flaherty, to oversee the agency’s European operations, which includes some of the largest markets in its portfolio. Meanwhile, he continues on as CFO for the region.

He moved into the position in 2009, where he worked alongside then CEO of Europe, David Gallagher, to manage the business. The company has moved to name Gallagher President of Growth and Development, International at Omnicom Public Relations Group.

“Mark Hume is a trusted and respected leader, a multi-faceted finance and operations executive with a keen understanding of the communications industry and a proven track record of growth. He has been instrumental in the acquisition and development of each of our European businesses,” said Flaherty.

He joined the firm in 1996 as Finance Director, UK, through the brand’s acquisition of Scope Communications. He was named COO of the UK business in 2001, and appointed European Commercial Director in 2004. He was elevated to Ketchum partner status a year later.
