The role assumed by Jose Papa covers Cannes Lions, Lions Health, Lions Innovations, Lions Entertainment as well as regional events.
Lions Festivals has named Jose Papa (pictured) its new Managing Director, a leadership role which encompasses Cannes Lions, Lions Health, Lions Innovations, and Lions Entertainment as well as the platform’s regional events including Dubai Lynx, eurobest, Spikes Asia, and the Tangrams.
Currently CEO of WGSN, Ascential’s global fashion trend forecasting service, he was previously Latin America’s Regional Director for the same. Prior to his Ascential duties, he was responsible for running corporate strategy with Cannes Lions’ official representative in Brazil, Estadão.
He has also held director level positions at T4F, ESPN Brazil, and Vex—some of the largest companies in said market. Papa is slated to step into his new commission as Managing Director on 1 September 2016. He will relocate from New York to the Ascential Events offices in London.
Earlier in the year, former Lions Festivals Chief Executive Officer, Philip Thomas, was announced as CEO of Ascential Events, and tasked with managing the Exhibitions & Festivals businesses.
“Clearly this role attracted a lot of interest, and I am delighted that Jose has agreed to join Lions Festivals. He has led WGSN to unprecedented success, and with a deep understanding of our brand and huge international experience, he was the outstanding candidate for the role,” said Thomas.
