The event supports Jack Daniel’s 150th anniversary of the Lynchburg-based distillery dedicated to the production of its Tennessee whiskey.

In conjunction with the 150th anniversary of its distillery, the oldest registered in the United States, Tennessee-born whiskey giant, Jack Daniel’s, has launched the Jack Daniel’s Barrel Hunt, a global scavenger hunt which will unite fans and friends of the brand across the globe.

The first leg of the international event takes place in Lynchburg, the home of the distillery, on 1 July 2016, with the journey set to span more than 50 countries across 90 days. The brand will provide clues via Facebook to help participants locate hidden whiskey barrels worldwide.

The platform created the opportunity for supporters of the marque to win unique and specially-designed prizes to commemorate the aforementioned celebration. From July through September, 150 handcrafted whiskey barrels will be hidden in various regions at historic and cultural sites.

Clues tied to the history of each locale will be provided on the day of each local Barrel Hunt and barrels will be opened when the first person to arrive speaks the correct barrel password. Updates and results will be shared as barrels are found and prizes are claimed in each region.

Each hidden barrel to feature in said exercise was handcrafted from the distillery and used to mature Jack Daniel’s offerings before being fabricated for the above activity to house prizes, including an original one-of-a-kind bar kit made using white oak from the barrels in question.

“We have grown from a local name in Lynchburg to an iconic brand in over 170 countries by remaining true to our legacy of authenticity, independence, and integrity. Our 150th anniversary is a major milestone and perfect opportunity to join in our first ever global Barrel Hunt,” said Mark McCallum, President of Jack Daniel’s.
