Renato Fernandez has been named ECD on the account, while Doug Menezes has been elevated to Creative Director at TBWA in LA.

TBWA has introduced two creative promotions at TBWA\Chiat\Day for Gatorade. Worldwide Creative Director, Renato Fernandez (pictured), has been named Executive Creative Director on the business, while Associate Creative Director, Doug Menezes, has been elevated to Creative Director.

Fernandez will partner with fellow ECDs, Linda Knight and Matt Heath, to help guide the agency’s creative department and product under newly minted Chief Creative Officer, Brent Anderson. The appointments coincides with the promotion of Scott MacMaster—now Executive Strategy Director.

“For the last 5 years, I’ve toiled alongside Renato as he relentlessly guides, protects and mentors work that defines the soul of our brands. Doug Menezes has emerged over the past two years as leader of both concept and craft. His unique upbringing within the industry makes him a natural choice,” said Anderson.

Fernandez has been with the firm since 2011, when he relocated with his family from Brazil. Three years later, he assumed creative leadership of the Gatorade US account, and subsequently took over its global projects. He began his advertising career in 1994 in Curitiba, where he’s from.

Prior to TBWA, Menezes worked as Associate Design Director with Crispin Porter & Bogusky in Miami. He also spent time working in digital design for Xishe and Wunderman in Dubai. A native of Brazil like Fernandez, he cut his teeth as an Art Director serving several shops in his home country.
