Etihad Airways, the UAE’s national airline, and Batik Air Malaysia have strengthened their collaboration by introducing a codeshare partnership, enhancing connectivity for passengers of both airlines.
Etihad Airways passengers can now fly seamlessly to eight new destinations, including domestic Malaysian routes and international locations like Perth, Vietnam (Da Nang and Hanoi), and more, all on a single ticket.
This partnership with Batik Air Malaysia allows travellers to connect through Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KUL) and enjoy the benefits of both airlines’ services and networks. Plus, the convenience of checked luggage being transferred directly to their final stop makes the travel experience smoother.
Etihad Airways has expanded its passenger network by adding five new domestic destinations in Malaysia (Johor Bahru, Langkawi, Penang, Kota Kinabalu, and Tawau) and three international points (Da Nang and Hanoi in Vietnam and Perth in Australia) through a codeshare agreement with Batik Air Malaysia.
This partnership between Etihad and Batik Air Malaysia benefits travellers flying to and from Malaysia by offering them a more comprehensive selection of flights across both airlines’ combined networks.
This new codeshare partnership allows seamless connections through their Kuala Lumpur hub, conveniently served by twice-daily Etihad flights from Abu Dhabi. As Etihad’s Chief Revenue and Commercial Officer, Arik De, highlights, this collaboration opens doors to exciting destinations. Fly with Etihad and access five key Malaysian locations, including the paradise island of Langkawi, the culturally vibrant Penang, and Kota Kinabalu, the gateway to the majestic Mount Kinabalu in Borneo.
‘They can experience the airline’s famous hospitality and connect seamlessly to Etihad’s vast network across the Middle East, Africa, and Europe, all thanks to the convenient hub in Abu Dhabi, ‘ he added.
Datuk Chandran Rama Muthy, Chief Executive Officer of Batik Air Malaysia, said, “Through this partnership, we aim to welcome visitors from around the world to explore Malaysia’s diverse attractions, as well as destinations across Southeast Asia and beyond.”
“We aim to establish Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KUL) as a transit hub, further enhancing Etihad’s connectivity for its passengers and ensuring a more comprehensive and convenient travel experience,” he said. He added that Etihad passengers could easily transit through KUL to reach various destinations in Southeast Asia, Australia, and beyond.
Malaysian travellers also benefit from a broader range of flight options. Thanks to the combined network offered by this collaboration, they can now explore exciting destinations beyond Abu Dhabi.
The new codeshare is now operating for flights commencing July 16, 2024. With this agreement, Batik becomes Etihad’s 38th codeshare partner.
This partnership marks a significant milestone in the journey of both airlines, enhancing global connectivity and providing passengers with more travel options and convenience. With the new codeshare agreement, travellers can look forward to seamless journeys and the opportunity to explore a broader range of destinations. Fly with Etihad Airways and Batik Air Malaysia and experience the world like never before.
