Ushering in the roll-out of ‘Monopoly Empire,’ anniversary festivities begin on 19 March using social media and activations
Marking its 81-year heritage, Hasbro is commemorating an iconic brand from its stable, whose presence has survived more than eight decades in the marketplace. Whilst ushering in the roll-out of ‘Monopoly Empire,’ anniversary festivities are set to begin on 19 March 2016.
Supporting the launch of the line’s latest extension, updates have been added to the board to include landmarks such as Universal Parks & Resorts, Ford, Caterpillar, Heinz, Polaroid, and Transformers. Social media and on-the-ground activation components have been to the celebratory mix.
Several global events have been organised in conjunction with the big day. Revellers can participate in a VIP-themed bash at Universal Studios’ Orlando and Singapore locations, and witness the brand try to set the record for the most number of people playing a Monopoly game in a single venue.
Since its 1935 debut, the brand has served over one billion players in 114 countries worldwide. Additionally, fans can experience the game across the digital games, fashion, live events or casino gambling space. It can also be explored via mobile through EA and Storm8.
The public is invited to join the conversation or send greetings to Monopoly using the top hat emoji, #Monopoly hashtag or visiting Facebook. Brand enthusiasts stand to spend a day in the life of an international tycoon by taking over Entrepreneur magazine’s Instagram handle, @Entrepreneur.
“Monopoly has been giving fans the chance to own it all for more than eight decades. This year, we’re planning the most memorable celebration of the brand yet,” said Jonathan Berkowitz, Senior Vice President of Global Marketing for Gaming at Hasbro.
