Major League Soccer has signed a renewal agreement with Etihad Airways. Both brands are teaming up on the MLS Flight Path push.
Major League Soccer has renewed its alliance with Etihad Airways, the national carrier of the United Arab Emirates. While the two first partnered in 2014, the move continues the latter’s role as official airline of MLS, deepening its focus on the U.S. and Canada markets.
In conjunction with the multi-year renewal strategy, Etihad Airways collaborated with renowned soccer personalities, Roger Bennett and Michael Davies from Men in Blazers, to share soccer’s global story and highlight the various intersections between both brands.
Per the updated sponsorship deal, the pair will work together on the MLS Flight Path campaign designed to delight fans with competitions and VIP experiences from the MLS All-Star Game presented by Target and at the MLS Cup. The airline will run consumer promotions and award holidays.
Etihad Airways and MLS are starting the season by inviting fans to share their best soccer-related travel photos on social media with the hashtag #MLSFlightPath. In April, two winners will land a VIP experience and compete head-to-head for a chance to win a trip to Abu Dhabi.
“We are thrilled to continue our partnership with Major League Soccer as it reinforces our long-term commitment to North American soccer fans. Both our brands share the same spirit of global connectivity through sports,” said Patrick Pierce, Vice President Marketing Partnerships at Etihad Airways.
